Have a look at their websites and see what inspires you. Get the kids involved too!
Maybe you have ideas from other playgrounds that work for you. It needn't be top of the range and uber expensive - if it's safe, it works and it's fun then that's enough. Stepping stones, hopscotch, climbing through tyres and sand pits are all cheaper options that we ought to consider. Maybe some homemade options will have to be put in place for the time being to get things off the ground and then they can be replaced at a later date.
XXX Tuesday 14th Oct update XXX
We have narrowed down to 3 companies who have brochures and websites that seem to reflect the right potential for what we (and you) are hoping to achieve. Site visits have been requested and are being undertaken by The Play Practice, Kompan, and Playdale. Their concept drawings will be made available for everyone to see as soon as possible (but due to their workloads this is not anticipated to be until December). We will then only have a short period in which to decide which company will be appointed as we are concurrently going forward to the next phase which is applying for Lottery funding (deadline 9th January 2009).
XXX Monday 20th Oct update XXX
We have had site visits and detailed consultation with Practice, Kompan, and Playdale and are waiting for them to get back to us with diagrams and suggestions. Their ideas and concepts will be available for you to view at our Open Day on Thursday 30th October from 10 til 12 at the Keswick Learn to Earn Centre in the Museum adjacent to Fitz Park.
Do you have any other ideas? Do you have any comments about the suggestions that have been received so far?
